Roofing Built For The Yellowstone Valley
The valley floor takes the full run of Montana hail season. Storms track up off the plains from late spring into August, and the same afternoon that drops pea-sized hail on one neighborhood can put golf balls through shingles a mile away. Add the wind that funnels along the Rimrocks and you get the two failure modes we see most: bruised, granule-stripped asphalt and lifted ridge and edge details.
For homes here we usually steer toward Class IV impact-rated shingles or a rubber or steel system, with hand-sealed edges and upgraded ridge venting. It costs more up front than a builder-grade three-tab and it is the difference between one roof and three.
